Dwarf Gourami Overview
The males of this species are generally larger and more colorful. Female dwarf gouramis tend to be silvery. The fish is almost translucent blue in color with vertical strips ranging from red to dark orange. However, there are a variety of colors including blood red, neon blue and others. The dorsal and anal fins are very prominent with colorful and distinct pelvic fins.

Dwarf Gourami Social: Community Vs. semi-aggressive Vs. Aggressive
This fish is not aggressive at all and they are very gentle fish. They do well in communities with fish of similar temperament. They may become territorial with other gouramies, especially during spawning.

The male fish build bubble nests where the female lays her eggs. The female should be removed after spawning as the male guards the eggs which hatches after about a day and become fry. The fry or the male should be removed to another tank when the fry start swimming.

Excellent water quality should be maintained and diet should be varied. They are prone to internal problems like Dropsy. They are best kept in pairs in a well planted aquarium.

Gouramies are omnivorous and will eat most food, including plenty of vegetable matter, flake food, live foods and blood worms.
